We Are Committed To Empowering Women

DMB Training Academy has seen the need for transformation and diversity in the trucking industry. In response we as an institution have committed ourselves to the empowering of women in the trucking industry and have made it our mission to produce highly skilled and competent female truck drivers.

Our Motive

The empowerment of women in South Africa is about dealing with the legacy of apartheid and the transformation of society, particularly the transformation of power relations between women, men and laws. It is also about addressing gender oppression, sexism and oppression.

Without doubt our society has undergone  big change since 1994, however as we commemorate over 25 years of freedom more still needs to be done to create an environment which enables women to take control of their lives.

The honest truth is that many women are still confined by both their circumstances and the prevailing male dominance in society. Therefore we must continue to fight the gender disparities that are evident across the many areas of life.

CEO's Bursary Program

In order to play our part in address the historical disempowerment of women in South Africa, DMB Training Academy has introduced the CEO’s Bursary Program. This is an annual bursary scheme aimed at empowering previously disadvantage women and equipping them to be professional truck drivers. The world of logistics and more important road freight has enjoyed good sustainable growth over the past 20 years and is still continue to grow, hence the promise of financial opportunities in the sector. We believe women can participate in this growth and get a share of this wealth through professional truck driving as the barrier to entry is low.

As a driver training academy  we have committed ourselves to taking previously disadvantage women, who have no driving experience, and taking them through the different phases of learning until they become highly skilled and competent professional truck drivers. In addition to the driving lessons we have committed ourselves to also cover all the necessary fees associated with attaining all required licenses and permits and their food and accommodation during this journey. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to give back to society through this program do not take this responsibility lightly. May the this be the first step of many as we strive for equality in all walks of life.
